Closing the books on Phil, starting a new journey

It has been seven months since I last heard from my travelling-around-the-world painting 'Phileas 365', so I can only put it as Missing in Action.

It was an experiment, it was worth a shot.

But I'm still fond of the idea, and the 21st of september is approaching soon, so I'm thinking of launching his sidekick - following the Jules Verne novel, Phileas travelled with his companion Passepartout. I'll paint a new traveller, hoping to see it travel the world as a first. Or to see Phileas emerge again, who knows? Anything can happen with travelling paintings, that's what makes it such fun. Keep an eye out, cheers!

Missing In Action

It's been a couple of months since I last heard from a temporarily owner of Phileas.
I have no idea whether he is still in New Zealand (or even got there), or has travelled on.

If the person currently in possession of Phileas would read the letter attached to the back, he or she should read this, and mail me (address in that letter as well).

The 365 days in which the painting should have travelled around the globe are passed, but it's still the goal of making the tour around the world.

I'd be more than happy to hear from you!
Cheers

Fingers crossed from now on

I got this mail concerning Phileas' journey from Craig, my last confirmed contact:

Hi sorry you have not heard anything, the people we gave the painting to were just who we met on holiday and had a few drinks with, we didn't get their email address. Sorry you haven't heard anything

Will the people who had a few drinks with Craig please contact me via maarten @kunstopreis.com (remove the space before the @). I really would like to know where Phileas is, cheers!

363 and counting

Phileas started his journey around the world, almost one year ago. After 363 days of travel, he should be in New Zealand, and that's about halfway across the globe.

I expected my painting would've travelled faster, that it would've been back home already. In the accompanying letter, I stated that everybody who helped Phileas travel around the globe in one year, would receive some kind of gift, a present.

As it is unlikely he'll be back from New Zealand in two days, I'll extend that period of the present. As one year means half-way, I guess two years is managable to make it back home.

Looking forward to hear from New Zealand!
Cheers

Malaysia/Singapore

Hi, we took the painting via Malaysia to Singapore. This is a photo of me with the marina bay sands hotel Singapore in the background. Hopefully he is on his way to New-Zealand!

Phileas finally leaves Greenwich!

Hi

Phileas has enjoyed his time with us so much that he stayed a little longer than he should have!! He's been hanging out at our language school and has met people from all over the world. We've sent him on his journey a few times but he came back to us each time!

This time we've given him to some friends who are taking him to Saudi Arabia where they know other friends who may be able to take him to Australia or Thailand. We hope this will really help him on his journey.

It's such a fabulous idea!

Have a good journey Phileas and good luck :-)
